This weekend.
As matt said I'm trying to be ready for the bad weather this weekend, but not too paranoid. Please keep us in your prayers that our utilities will not go out. We don't need the hot and humid weather with no AC. It's still in the nineties here. And please keep Caleb in your prayers. We're supposed to get some pretty bad rain when Rita arrives here. I"m hoping it's only rain and not a thunderstorm. Caleb has recently become very afraid of thunder. So please keep him in your prayers. Thanks guys. Jenn

I had no idea you could get hit that hard in Austin. I'll have my fingers crossed for you all!
The last time a hurricane of this magnitude hit Texas was in the 60's with Carla. Apparently it did alot of damage, even inland. So given it's headed right for Austin, everyone is taking precautions.
Jenn, just a bit of advice that we've used with Lucas before. He's afraid of thunder as well. Talk about the possibillity of thunder coming with the rain this weekend so he is prepared in advance. Remind him that it is just a noise and it can't hurt him and can't get in the house (just like the rain). Also, begin to pray now that "God would help keep the thunder away or make it not scary if it does come." They say it is better to prepare them in advance and remind them that you are there to protect them and that God will protect them too. I know with Lucas when he saw the floods etc on TV of Katrina he was worried that "water would get in our house and then we would have no more house to live in." We talked about it several times and prayed for the people whos "houses got all wet and they had to go to someplace else to live till it was all fixed." You will all be in our prayers!!!
Heather- great ideas! We'be been listening to the radio (internet) and following the news. It sounds like people are being very careful, and that's good.
John and I will be gone for the weekend, but we'll be thinking of you! Good luck.
Well, we got hit with the worst that Rita had to offer Austin: massive amounts of.....sunshine. Go figure. Everyone fled to Dallas earlier in the week. However, that's pretty close to where the storm ended up going. It should have been called Hurricane Murphy.
Oh well, we won't need to go to the grocery store for a while.
