one for the thumb...

superbowl

Well, as many of you know, I'm not a huge sports fan. But I'm pretty excited about the outcome of yesterday's super bowl. I grew up in Pittsburgh during the 80s- just after the Steelers had their 4 super bowl victories. Every year was an attempt to get back and get that 5th victory. I'm glad they've finally gotten it- the city has been waiting a looong time for this.
In my short little life, I've never seen anything quite like a Steelers fan. I honestly think that if you took blood samples from everyone born in Pittsburgh, you would find a little Steelers symbol in their genetic chain. In some cases, it replaces the genes needed for intelligence and/or decent hairstyles, but they're still a lovable bunch.
So even though I'm so out of it that I've only known they were going to the superbowl for the last week, i can still muster a "here we go steelers, here we go...!" cheer from some rarely-visited corner of my mind. :)

While I am not a true Steelers fan they were the ones I was rooting for. My brother lives in Pittsburgh now so I feel a slight connection. Anyway, I am doing an unofficial poll of favorite SuperBowl commercials. Got a vote?

Dave! I was cheering for Pitt, mainly because I knew you were from there. What is the yellow towel thing? I thought that was interesting.

Anyway, congrats!

Now "shut yins two yard apes! Yer embarrassin Mr. Iris over here."

ha ha!

yeah, the "terrible towel" goes back to the 70s- fans wave them in the air as you probably saw during the game.
I think the credit for the idea goes to Myron Cope, a wacky radio sports guy in town (also a legend, though people dont wave him in the air during games..)

I liked the "crime deterant" cell phone ad..:)
