Silly baby

Sometime Saturday evening all Hell broke lose in my belly. I couldn't quite figure out where the baby thought he was going, but he seemed to be on a mission. To put it bluntly, he was pummeling me. It felt like he was doing Thi Chi- long, strong stretching. The good thing was that he was moving, but it had me a bit concerned.

It continued all weekend. By last night, I was almost ready to call the doctor's answering service. The only thing that kept me from doing so was that 1) the baby was moving, still in Thai Chi mode, and 2) I had a doctor's appointment this morning.

This morning the doctor listened to my weekend worries, gave my belly a thoughtful sqeeze, and took me right over for a sonogram. Well, my stupid son decided to flip over last weekend. Apparently he was bored, and decided to go breech. He really didn't need to do that. At the moment, he seems to be laying hammock-like with his head oder my right side rib-cage and his feet over my left hip. His new hobbies include punching my diaphram and dancing on my pelvic floor. I'm hoping this gets old and he decides to get back where he should be.

I go back to the doctor next week, and we'll do a more complete sonogram and see exactly how he's settled. Then we can discuss trying to turn him, if that's possible. If I'm really lucky, he'll flip over on his own. He's still moving more than usual, so maybe he isn't done yet. Keep your fingers crossed!

Wow Kris! This goes without saying, but I really can't imagine what that felt like. Zeesh. You need to have a talk with that boy when he finally arrives for his first day of work.

Yikes! Sounds like li'l Baby Snyder is getting cabin fever and has decided to try some gymnastic tricks! Heather, wasn't Connor the one who would do somersaults in utero? My goodness me! :) Oh, and by the way - if you get really desperate, acupuncture has a 70% success rate of righting breech babies. I'm happy to give you my acupuncturist's information! :)

Aidan did the exact same thing 3 weeks before his due date. It was the most uncomfortable and actually scary thing since the doctor scared me to death about going into labor with him like that. Apparently its dangerous because their head is not down to block the placenta from decending. So if I went into labor and the placenta came first, the baby could suffocate. Just the stress I needed 3 weeks before delivery! Anyway, I spent a great deal of time massaging and nudging him to get him to turn. He finally did and then was born less than a week later! I've heard about the acupuncture thing and would have tried that before "manual turning" by the doctor if it came to that. Keep us posted.

HI- been poking the little guy all day, and he seems comfy at the moment, although he's still moving around a lot. :S The moving wasn't bad, I'd just prefer him to stand on his head again. (Will it help if I do?) We'll see exactly where he is next week.

I would have thought Kris pregnant would be a sight itself, but Kris pregnant standing on her head, now THAT's time for camera. Hang in there Kris.
