The bis drivers strike again
We seem to be in the middle of an on-again, off-again bus strike here. I was all ready for my first doctor's appointment Tuesday, and ready to head out the door, when John called me to tell me the buses weren't running. At that point, there was no way I could make it accross town. It takes me 45 minutes to make the walk, the taxis were all booked up, and my bike has a flat tire. I had to call the doctor's office and beg forgiveness. They re-scheduled me for next week.
Yesterday we had bus service durning the morning. I somehow managed to throw out my upper back yesterday morning, something I haven't done in years, so I was thrilled to be able to bus downtown and back. But John was stranded when he tried to get to the dentist. By the time he gave up on the bus, hopped on his bike and raced across town, he was fifteen minutes late, and lost his appointment.
Today, the buses were stopped again. John dashed in a half-hour before his dentist appointment to say the buses had stopped mid-morning, hopped on his bike and drove away. This time he made it.
The on-again, off-again nature of this thing is very odd. I have yet to hobble down to the corner for a paper to see what the hub-bub is about. The good news is that I can already pick my head up and can almost brush my hair, so I'm well on my way to mending. That hobble to the corner is already looking better, and less painful, than it did last night.

Hi Kris,
I'm so sorry. If you remember, I threw out mine many times at RIT (and before that too). Actually, I was told to eat pineapple to help ease the pain -- as much as you can find. Of course, I'm sure you're swimming in pineapples over there in....Denmark. But if you can get your hands on some, give it a try. It has seemed to work for me (or it's a placebo, but still I feel better.)
Hey Kris,
How disapointing to miss your first apointment! Jane and I were watching Sesamee St. the other day and I thought of you watching it with your child some day! It's not the same as the classic S St. but it's still fun. Hope you're feeling better soon.
Matt, haven't tried the the pinapple, but the idea intrigues me. I'm doing pretty well. I just need to make more grocery trips for awhile, as I can't carry much at one time.
Karen, one of my favorite things to do with Olivia was watch 'classic' Bert and Ernie skits! I have some on a CD, and when she was in her 3s she really 'got' them. We had a blast!
