Return of the Happy Rocker
I thought you would all like to see my "new" rocking chair, but I can't seem to post a photo using Flikr. I even tried deleting the blog from Flikr and re-connecting it, but that didn't work, and now I can't get the link back. I've tried the past few days, and it keeps saying the Blogger service is out. I'll keep trying. There is a photo posted to the Flikr account, and it is turning up on the flash cube over on the right, so you can click on it and see it if you want.
It is the Happy Rocker! It's been re-painted and re-upholstered. We just got it back this week.
When I returned from Denmark, I found a very sad Happy Rocker at my parents' house. Three years in their Florida room had left the vinyl faded and rotting from sun exposure. The runners had been exposed to enough condensation that they'd begun to rust. We had to do something, before it fell into total disrepair.
Since I have no sewing talent, and no access to a sewing machine to try, I found a fellow back in Hamburg who was willing to re-cover it for us. I'd wanted something a bit funkier, but many of the fabrics on my 'A' list were really (really) expensive. I also thought it might be better to go a bit more conservative so it blended in with out lives a bit more. I think John was relieved I did so, fearing a new onslaut of retro-orange flowers.
I do miss the flowers, but I'm thrilled to have my rocker back. It's still incredibly comfortable for little me. Perhaps on the next round of fabric I can go funky again. (flowers and flamingos, anyone?)

That looks like a VERY happy little rocker, and may it's Little and Littlest rockers be even happier still when they rock in it!!!
