"I'm Still Alive"

Ahh, Nirvana's song still rings true up here in Rochester. I haven't popped in in a while so I thought I'd say hi.
The Ireland/Scotland/Wales/England trip was amazing! With close to 1000 pictures, I haven't had time to go through them yet but I'm hoping to post and print them in the next couple of weeks. The weather was cool and wet but what else would you expect in Ireland? The scenery was incredible and after a couple days Matt and I actually remembered who each other was and really enjoyed the quality time together. The kids had a blast at Camp DoWhatchaWanna (aka Mimi & PopPop's house) and my mom cried when they finally left. I guess that's a good sign. After we do the Disney thing in a couple years, we'll begin planning our next overseas trip. I think we've decided on Italy and Greece.
The kindergarten reality has hit here as well. Lucas doesn't start until after Labor Day which is soon enough for me. The teacher assignments came out over the weekend so there was a buzz within the moms as to who had who. There are 5 K classes in the school. Lucas knows at least 2 friends who will be in his class which I am happy about. One is a boy from his playgroup and the other is the girl next door! He is excited and is ready to start back-to-school shopping today! In our district they transition the kindergarteners to full day school pretty well. The first day there is a K-only bus that picks up the kids and their moms/dads for their first bus ride to school. We go together and stay only 2 hours and ride the bus home together. The second day they ride the bus themselves but stay only 3 hours. The third day they stay and eat lunch at school and come home after. The next Monday, its full day. I'm doing before and after care for 2 kids (K & 1st grade) who live in our cul-de-sac and the older one is protective so I know Lucas will be fine on the bus. Now I just need someone for me!!
Connor is equally excited for school as he starts preK this year. He will have Lucas' teacher from last year who we adore. I think Aidan will be lost for those few hours. He plays right along with his brothers. It will be interesting to see how Connor does without Lucas as well; they are constant playmates.
The only other newsworthy items here are that I've become a runner. I ran my first 5K race (Corporate Challenge) in May and am running my second one this weekend in Penfield. I try to run 2-2.5 miles 2-3 times each week. Its not a lot but the exercise is good and I get results. I mostly run in the evenings, when the kids go to bed and the weather isn't so bad. I never thought I'd say it but I kinda enjoy it. Who would have thought!?

I've been wanting to start running myself. I go to the gym five mornings a week to work out and have been tossing the idea of going for a run for a while now. I've never run before and know I"ll look like a fool so that's really the only thing holding me back. I know I won't be able to go far and will end up alternating walking and running. Wish I didn't care what other people think of me, because I too think I'd enjoy it. Heck I love going to the gym on days that I take their classes, I really don't enjoy doing the machines by myself, but I do two days a week. I wish I could afford to keep a trainer. I had one when I first started to help me learn the machines and it's just so much better when they can change things up for me ever so often. But who can afford to keep one. :) Good job running heather I admire you doing that.

Good luck with the kindergarten thing. Caleb received a letter in the mail addressed to him from his teacher that helped him to get excited. Then this friday they have a "meet the teacher" day in his class room followed by an ice cream social. Yippee!

Hope you all have a good week. Miss you all. It was really nice seeing you guys, sorry we missed you heather, but you were in a better place. :) Kris, it was really good to see john while he was here in austin. I just wish we could have gotten some good BBQ in him as well as the Tex-Mex.

Talk with you all later.

I was doing the gym pretty regularly as well but stopped for the summer. I'd rather be outside than in a gym! I found I can run a lot further ourside than the treadmill. My biggest motivation was signing up for the race. Once I was registered and paid, that forced me to get out and run. I only trained a month for the first race. Eight months ago I could barely WALK 3.5 miles straight and now I can run it; and feel great after! Start slow but stay consistant. Maybe we'll run a 5K together next year!!!

Dear, dear . . . Heather, PEARL JAM sings "I'm Still Alive" . . . mixing up Eddie and Kurt? I'm shocked!

;)

Sounds like a wonderful trip, for everyone in the house! We loved Italy. I especially loved Venice and all of Tuscany.

Wonderful news on the running gig. Keep it up!! Jenn, you couldn't look any odder than our neighbor. He runs with his elbows up and shoulder height and swings his shoulders while bouncing on his anles. It's rather tragic. I'm sure you'd look much better.

I'm a pilates girl, myself, although I have to say that after having one's core muscles sliced in half, pilates are almost impossible for about (well) . . . 8 months! I'm just getting back to it now. I've thought about running, but I chase Noah about too much already.

Kindergarten!! I just can't believe it. Sounds like both Caleb and Lucas are in for a nice transition. I love the fact that Caleb's teacher sent him a letter. That is awesome. I'm looking forward to photos!
