Sicky
Hello friends! I think I only wrote to Kris that I've been sick. I got this cold/flu like marathon of an illness about four weeks ago and am just now getting back to normal, whatever normal is for me. I woke up one morning, looked at myself in the bathroom mirror and thought "My lips look white. I'm going to faint." I woke up on the floor, having indeed fainted, and then started the flu like symptoms. Nate found me and helped me back in to bed but I was just struggling for consciousness. I was told you couldn't faint if you were lying flat but apparently you can. I fainted again while in bed. Nate found me unconscious, with my eyes open and it seemed to him that I wasn't breathing. Poor Naty thought for a moment I might be dead. He stripped off the covers to start CPR and after shaking me one more time I came to. I remember a buzzing noise getting louder and trying to get more air in my lungs. We were both convinced I needed to go to the ER, and let me tell you I am rarely convinced of that! By the time a friend arrived to look after the girls I knew that I couldn't get from point A to point B without fainting again so Naty had to call 911 for the first time in his life. The fire truck and ambulance came. Four large men crowded around my bed and carried me off in a "stair chair" which I almost fainted in. In the ambulance they started pumping me full of oxygen and saline and asking annoying questions. They asked me twice if I was anorexic or bulimic. Anyway, Nate and I spent a couple of hours in the hallway of the ER since they didn't have enough rooms. They said they had so many patients with this same illness and obviously I was pretty well off in comparison. They pumped in two more liters of saline and some Zofran for the nausea (I lived on Zofran during both pregnancies and I love it!) They made me walk down the hallway and pushed me out the door. My doctor ordered all sorts of blood tests. One week it showed anemia and abnormal thyroid results. The next week's readings showed normal but low levels. So I'll take a multivitamin, extra iron and extra naps for a while! Jane had it twice and Anna once but they got over it in about 24 hours. Thank the Lord Nate didn't have any illness the whole time. I'm glad to be up and about again. I don't think I've ever been so sick in my life.
By the way, happy mud season!

OH my goodness, Karen! That's awful! How terrifying for you and for Nate!!! I'm glad to hear that you are on the mend. What a scare!!! Hopefully this will all soon be a distant memory for you. We will certainly be interceding for the full return of your health! We love you guys!
Good grief! You said you were sick, but not THAT sick! I have to admit, a bunch of years ago I went from totally ok to unable to stand in about 20 minutes. I was violently ill for several hours when my parents literally carried me to the ER. (Which almost injured me as much as the illness, since dad almost busted my head into several door jams on the way. I found that almost puking on the secretary usually gets one seen quicker . . .)
But I digress . . .I get how a virus can knock you out so quickly. I'm so glad you're better- even if it's taking time. Hope all blood/thyroid levels all get back to normal soon. And TAKE IT EASY!
Did they happen to run a pregnancy test? Those little buggers can reak major havoc ya know!!
Heather, that's not funny, dear.
Hey, you never know!! Remember I was the one who couldn't get pregnant with fertility drugs for 3 years and now I have 4! (and one was conceived with birth control!)
No, it is not possible, barring God's miraculous intervention, that I am pregnant. I'm almost 100 percent back to normal!
Good to hear! Glad you're up and moving again!
Sorry I haven't written. I was at my annual interpreter workshop. This year's was on South Padre Island. Yep an Island.
Karen I'm so sorry to hear you were so sick. I am glad to hear that you are back one hundred percent. Wish I lived closer and could have helped the Tinsely family out some.
