Jayden, swing master

Jayden, swing master

The boys enjoyed their first ride on the kiddie swings at the playground. Jayden was loudly exclaiming his usual phrase "beeyi beeyi beeyi!!" (which he says all day about everything).
They didn't really understand the whole concept of the slide, but the swings were a definite hit.

Freezerburn Elmo

Nate had a scare the other day when he looked in the freezer. What is wrong with this picture (besides the amount of butter stored up?)

I was warned that a little cherub in the church nursery who had been chewing on Jane's Elmo doll had the hand/foot/mouth virus. I thought since you can kill dust mites or allergens in the freezer, it wouldn't hurt to quarantine Elmo in there for a week or two before washing him. Kinda scary lookin'.

Who won the game?

A Divided House

Well, it's 9:23 in the first quarter. Ohio State (aka Jenn) is playing the University of Texas-Austin (aka Matt) in perhaps the biggest game of the year. Jenn realized early in the week that she did not own an Ohio State apparel....so she had her mom priority mail down a Buckeye shirt. I already own a Texas shirt.

Anyway, Jenn and I wore our respective shirts today while out and about, and received some funny looks....and some folks asking if we were together. In fact, at Culvers today (one of our restaurants), Emily spilled some of her frozen custard, and Jenn went over started cleaning up the mess on the rug. As I was walking up to get some more napkins, an older gentlemen leaned over to me and said, "Boy, you can't just take those Buckeye's anywhere, can ya?" I laughed, and then said "SHHHHH!!!" The whole restaurant, and Austin for that matter, is wearing burnt orange.

Caleb has allegiance divided. Jenn had him yelling "Go Buckeyes!" at dinner, and then later he yells "Go Horns!". I asked Caleb what team he really likes, and he just yelled "Go...Team!". Spoken just like Switzerland.

So this is the news from Austin. Hope you all are having a good night, and if you're watching the game, now you have some context. Remember, if you're rooting for Ohio, you're basically saying that you don't like me and that you like to club baby seals.

The boys are walking and dancing and waving bye-bye - we feel like we live in a time warp that they could already be one! I guess it's true that time passes faster once you start having kids . . .love, Sabrina

Roch me like a hurricane.

What's this I see on the weather channel? Are you guys having flash flood warnings up there in Rochester? I thought only flash flood warnings were reserved for us flatlanders in Texas. I saw a map and I see all kinds of swirly colors heading your way.

So what's the news? Are you all going to make it, or should I mail you some floaties?

I just read that August was the hottest in Austin on record, ever. Average was about 100, and highest was 104. That sounds about right.
