End of summer
Hello friends, August is just about over and I am thankful we survived summer vacation! Anna has been out of school since early August and has grown increasingly fussy. My only breaks have been when the in home support people have come to help her and an occasional book group meeting. (We read all the major novels of Jane Austen, again! Now we're reading the Three Musketeers.) Come to think of it, we haven't gone on a date since June... hmm. Summer is of course Nate's busy time. He had a couple of weddings to shoot this month as well as a promotion for an addiction recovery program in NH. This week he's in PA helping Seth move up from VA. Seth seems to be doing well in his new job. He and Blair are expecting a baby in Feb. or March.
So, Anna starts first grade on Tuesday and Jane starts kindergarten on Wednesday! It's a toss up who is more excited, Jane or me. Who else is going to school this year? Caleb, of course, but I forget what grade he's in. Can it be second grade already?
Hey our chickens started laying eggs this weekend! They are just the soft shelled first eggs, but I call that success! They are fat and happy, quiet and friendly (as much as chickens are friendly.)
How are you all doing? Kris, how are you feeling?

HI! I have poultry envy- I'm sure we're not zoned for them in the 'burbs. It's tempting, however, as many of the neighbors have acquired dogs this summer, and none of them seem to have the time to care for them.
Glad to hear that Jane is excited about kindergarten. That is a very good thing. I'll be waiting to hear how both girls do! (and you!- time for the Happy Dance)
All is well here. 5 weeks to go. I should have done many things earlier on, but didn't want to break up the dining room earlier than I needed to. Now we're kinda hustling at the last minute. I've had lots of problems with my hips this time, and the only way to keep them under control is to do as little as possible.
It will all get done . . . no idea whether this will be a repeat c-section or a VBAC yet. If the baby is breach or I need to be induced it will be another section.I'll have an ultrasound in a few weeks to check to see if she's head-down. Barring that, we'll see how it goes.
Hope this finds everyone well!
Hello all! it was good to hear from you Karen. Yes, Caleb has started the second grade. It will be an amazing year for him. Multiplication, division, and cursive! I don't remember starting all of that in second grade. But hey, I'm old what do I remember. :) Emily gets ready to start her last year of preschool on Tuesday so she is very excited. It is one of her favorite teachers that Caleb had when he was there. I too will be "doing the happy dance" with both of my kiddos in school.
This past week I started going to the women's bible study at our church. I'm really excited about it. They're studying the scripture when Jesus walked on water and Peter joined him. Should be good. Other than that not too much to tell.
Please continue to keep us in your prayers about a job for Matt. Seven months and cou
Wow that was the first time I've been able to post on hunny house in a while. Every time I've tried in the past it has not let me log on.

Karen, how sweet to think of you guys and your chickens! Kris - the Final Countdown - definitely praying for your last stretch - sorry the hips are so uncomfortable! Jenn, can't believe second grade already - the pics of your children are so beautiful and I can't believe how big they are!!! (And ditto that for the beautiful Wilber boys too!)
We are really looking forward to school starting too - the boys start preschool, Tues and Thurs mornings, the third week in September. Oh, and we'll teach Sunday School again this year. The preschool is a parent co-op (plus support group for parents,) so there will be lots of days when I'm helping out in the classroom. Haven't even begun to let myself believe I will actually have "down time" during the day once they get used to being without me at school. What a concept!!! :) Happy September (almost) to all.
Kris - my hips killed me too. especially with emily. some nights they hurt so badI had to take benedryl just to fall asleep. dr. said that's the only thing he could recommend during pregnancy.
Hi again- Everything seems to have been moved down a grade level. The kids around here are supposed to sight read upon entry to kindergarten, which is (quite frankly) nuts. That's one of the reasons I'm holding Noah back- he was born ON our school system's cut-off date, and they have no rules for kids born on that day- I get to choose. HA!
I hope Caleb and Emily are enjoying school. Good luck to Jaden and Corban! Should be exciting- especially for Mom!!
As for the hips, they are what they are. What drives me nuts isn't so much the pain (feels like a knife, I won't share exactly where :P ), but I can't do diddly around here. The only thing that helps is alternately standing and sitting in small intervals, and flipping over every hour at night. But it works.
The house is slowly succumbing to entropy. (Darn laws of Physical Science!) We still don't have a crib up, but I'm getting there slowly now. It'll be kinda nutty, but it'll get done.
I do have my fingers and toes crossed for Matt. Here's hoping something breaks soon!
