You know you live in Texas when....
Ok I promise this is a true story. So the school Caleb goes to is affiliated with a Baptist church here in Austin named Bannockburn. I love everything about this school and church. They are some of the most wonderful people around. Every day after school we let the kids hang in the court yard or play ground and play for an hour or so. You all remember what it was like, having to be good all day in school and just needing to run off some energy at the end of the day. Well every once in a while they have a funeral at the church. It's one of the larger churches here in South Austin. So on Wed. afternoon there was a funeral. It was crazy, there were no parking spaces in either parking lot to pick up the kids. As I drove by the first parking lot I looked and there was a "Texas truck (duelly)" parked near the playground with a large horse trailer attached. Didn't really think anything of it, seen them around before. So I park at school and just outside of the church on the side walk is a "Ranchers hunting truck". When I say this it is a big truck like a Ford F250 or larger and it has two seats attached to the front end of the truck. Mind you this is parked outside of the main church entrance on the side walk. So we moms are figuring that some well off Texas rancher died. Well this next part is the reason for the title. As the mourners are filing out we see the Ranchers Horse. Yes indeed, you know you live in Texas when a horse attends his owners funeral!!!! Apparently as my friend David put it, "in Texas a rancher's horse ranks higher than the wife." I smiled at him and no really, "a rancher's horse is esteemed higher than the wife." Amazing. All funniness aside, it is touching when you think about it the rancher probably spend a good eight to ten hours a day on the horse checking out the ranch, the animals and the ground maintenace. So the the horse will probably go through a mild depression over missing his owner/good friend. So anyway I just thought I would share this with you all.
Happy Easter! God Bless!

I thought you were going to say they gave the kids pony rides. Shucks. Did the horse actually go in the church? Nate taped a wedding last summer where the bride was walked down the "isle" (they were at a park) by her dog. The poor brides maids had to bag the poo right before the ceremony. The dog has now passed on (which in my opinion is probably a very healthy thing.)
What a story! I thought you were going to conclude by saying the funeral was for a horse, ha ha! It is really sweet to think of how beloved that horse was, though. :)
