What's new with the Wilbers
I figured it was about time I poked my head back in and said hi. Its been a long winter hibernating - somewhat literally.
The boys are all doing well. Lucas is thriving in school and starting to read. He's anxious for spring and ready to get back out on his bike and playing baseball again. He'll start Little League in May so as soon as the snow melts and the sun returns we'll start some "spring training." He's also developed a real love of crafts and will sit and scrapbook and stamp with me for hours. Well, if we had hours to do such things he would. We went to an all-day crop in Feb and he came with me. That was a lot of fun.
Connor is still Connor. If it can be climbed on or over, jumped on or off of, swung or swung by, he's there. His passions right now include anything from the Cars movie or Thomas the Train. We've discovered that although not as easy as VCR tapes, it IS possible to wear out a Cars DVD. When your just 3 years old can recite 90% of the movie and can work the remote better than you, you know he's watched it at least a few times. Connor is sleeping much better thanks to regular chiropractic visits and a change in our diets (more about that later).
Aidan is the happiest little toddler I've ever met. He wakes up and smiles, is happy and pleasant all day long and like his mommy, is ready for bed and goes right to sleep without a peep. Now that he's walking (and semi-running), he's his brothers' shadows. He's right there with them playing with cars, trains, planes, balls, books, whatever they are doing. He talks up a storm and will carry on a nice long conversation with you. He's got a handful of intelligible words to go along with the sign he knows but has no problem conveying exactly what he wants.
Matt is overworked and under supported but apparently that's Corporate America for ya. He usually ends up putting in several hours of work at night after the kids go to bed. The last few Saturdays he's been able to get out and "play" a bit. We have good friends that own an auto repair shop and Matt has been able to go down there and get his hands dirty helping out on Saturdays. He has fun and has been learning a lot and I know Ronnie really appreciates the extra help.
My two businesses are going well. Stampin' Up has been quite successful and I am holding at least two workshops a month. I'm working toward my next title promotion and learning lots of new techniques to share at workshops and classes. The other business, Thoughtfully Yours, has a steady flow of business right now and MaryBeth & I have several craft shows and festivals lines up for the summer so we are working to increase our inventory and get ready for those. Matt & I just finished a 6 week class from our chiropractor's office on health, nutrition, time mngment and stress mngment. It was amazing and has really changed our eating habits. We've eliminated most processed (and fyi, undigestable) foods, changed to mostly organic and fresh food and cut out cow's milk (which was only intended for baby cows!) and sugar. We've become soooo educated on food and health and although the changes may seem drastic, they were so easy. The kids have adjusted really easy, my energy level has skyrocketed AND I've lost weight! Anyway, if you are interested in more, email me and I'll tell ya all about it.
I guess I'll close with our big news. July 2nd Matt & I will fly out to enjoy 16 days touring Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England - WITHOUT kids. We decided that making it our 10th anniversary deserved celebrating so the tickets are purchased! We are really excited about it! Well I guess that's it from here so I should probably go and get my day started. Take care.

Hi Heather - well, you peaked my interest. What foods (besides milk - ahhh!) did you cut out, and what have you started eating in their place? Of course, I'm imagining Little Debbies are still ok to eat with this new plan, right???
Bad news on the Little Debbies but you can keep your peanut butter! - just switch to the real stuff that has to be refrigerated (organic is best). It tastes better anyway. Other good foods are obviously fresh fruits and vegetables, beans, nuts, seeds, fish, free-range, organic eggs, chicken or turkey and grass-fed beef. NO PORK! Live sprouted grain bread is better than yeast or flour breads and if you need to sweeten your food do so with honey, real maple syrup or brown rice syrup. A good rule of thumb is to read the label, if you can't pronounce it, don't eat it. Also, if you see high fructose corn syrup or partially hydrogenated oils, walk away! Another big key to the program is WHEN you eat certain foods. Keep your carbs to the first half of the day when you have time left to burn off the sugar and eat only protein and good fats at night when your body needs them to repair while you sleep. You will be amazed at how much better you feel!
Welcome back to BlogWorld, Heather! Good to get your update. The boys sound just adorable. Here's to a happy spring for all of us!
Hey- GRAT TO HEAR FROM YOU!!
After life in Denmark, where I HAD to eat on your new diet (partially hydrogenated oils are actually illegal to have in foods), I've had a hard time eating in the States. I just can't take processed food any more, even the cookies. They actually taste bad to me now, and even one makes me sick. No more Oreos for me! I have had a hard time finding foods here I like . . . I'm working on it.
Glad to hear about your plans to go overseas. I made it to Edinborogh, I'll send 'ya some shots.
Gotta go- time to eat.
