Teeth

Hello dear friends! We've been super busy for a while. Ruthie came for a visit, a week and a half, and all of normal life gets put aside! That can be good :) Anyway, I just had to write about teeth. Anna has lost four teeth so far! The first one was a complete surprise. To this day I don't know where it is. The other three we saw coming because we check for loose teeth now. The second one I had to pull because it was so loose and she was going to school that morning. Yikes! I told myself I would never pull my children's teeth but a mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do. Thankfully it came right out, it was ready. The other two came out during nap time or during the night. I found them on the floor! Anyway, no cash for teeth here because that concept is so beyond Anna. And, on a reassuring note, the dentist says don't worry about teeth coming in crooked. They all get moved around as new teeth grow in. What a traumatic thing for kids!!

I'm having fun with our vegetable garden! We have peas, lettuce, spinach and Johnny Jump ups coming up in the garden and lots more seedlings in the basement.

I'm sorry this is such a quick note and it doesn't really tell you how we're doing but Jane is chattering away next to me, asking for this and that. I can hardly think. I hope I can write more later, when the kids are in bed!!

Teeth

Well it seems like it was just yesterday Caleb was eight months old and we were visiting NY. Our first night we were staying at our friends Kurt and Barb Sieber's house. Caleb surprised us that night by coming down with a hundred and five degree fever. Kurt and Barb drove with us to the nearest hospital at midnight where they looked at caleb gave him some advil and told us to keep an eye on him. It turned out he had Roseola. But it was that night in the emergency room, with him throwing up, and screaming his head off that I realized his first tooth had broken through. Amazing, what you can see when your child is hanging upside down in your arms throwing up. :) Well this past week Caleb lost his first tooth! His first tooth IN was a top one, his first tooth out a bottom.

Since I knew caleb would soon be loosing a tooth I polled the first graders last week on the going rate the tooth fairy leaves now-a-days. It seems he/she generally leaves $1-$2. The over achieving parents/tooth fairies or guilt ridden ones tend to leave A LOT more. Since I do not have those feelings of guilt our tooth fairy left $2. Caleb decided to use his $2 plus some of his allowance to purchase a book at the scholastic book fair this week. Not a bad purchase.

Wow! Kris and Sabrina, time does go by so fast. Soon your little ones will be loosing those teeth they are so painfully getting right now!

It's kinda funny. This whole school year caleb has been miffed that he hasn't lost a tooth. Well when his tooth finally became loose he complained. " I don't like having loose teeth, they hurt!" :) Can't win! Have a good weekend. Matt posted some pictures of Caleb's hole in the head.

Have a good weekend all.

Self Image

Since everyone on this blog likes Wallace & Grommit / Aardman Animations, I wanted to share this video:

Self Image - Interviews with normal Americans about their self image.

Enjoy!

Helvetica: The Movie

When I saw this on Netflix, I not only signed up asap, but put this movie at the top of my cue.

Yes, it's a documentary showing designers wax poetical about Helvetica.

Yes, it was great. A wonderful, typo-geeky night. I highly recommend.
